A shallow lake fed by two creeks is sensitive to what runs into it, and the neighborhoods around Lake Steilacoom and Interlaken are all on slopes that drain to the water. So the same rule we keep on American Lake applies here: wash water goes onto lawn or landscape to soak in, or gets captured. It does not go down the storm drain.
The houses around the lake are a mix of older lakefront places and later streets up the hill, and the trees are big. Big trees mean shade, needles in the gutters and moss on the roof. We clear the gutters, soft wash the roof, treat the moss and photograph it all.
